Fragrance oils are concentrated and long-lasting, but like anything natural, they need a little care to stay at their best. With the right storage, your oils will keep their strength and scent for years.
✅ Best Practices for Freshness:
- Store in a Cool, Dry Place → Heat breaks down fragrance molecules. Keep bottles away from heaters, bathrooms and hot cars.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight → Sunlight can cause oils to discolor or shift in scent over time.
- Keep Bottles Tightly Sealed → Oxygen exposure weakens fragrance. Always close caps snugly after each use.
- Handle with Clean Hands → Prevents contamination or unwanted residue mixing with the oils.
✨ Shelf Life Expectation
With proper care, most oils easily last 2–5 years — and often much longer. We’ve kept some oils in our archive for 10 years and they still smell incredible. The key is proper storage.
✨ Extra Tip: If your oil thickens slightly over time, that’s normal.
Fragrance oils work best when applied to your pulse points - the warm areas of your body that naturally help diffuse and project scent. These spots release gentle heat, which allows your fragrance to bloom throughout the day.
✅ Best Pulse Points to Apply Oils:
- Ears → behind or just below the earlobes for a subtle aura
- Neck → both sides of the neck keep your scent close and noticeable
- Inside Elbows → warmth here helps your fragrance last longer
- Wrists → classic placement, but remember: dab, don’t rub
✨ Pro Tip: Oils cling best to hydrated skin. Apply after moisturizing or pair with matching lotion or shea butter for an even longer-lasting effect.
How to Apply Oils (Step-by-Step Guide)
1️⃣ Prep Your Skin
Start with clean, moisturized skin. Hydrated skin helps fragrance oils cling longer and project better.
2️⃣ Choose Your Pulse Points
Apply to warm areas of the body like behind the ears, neck, inside elbows, and wrists. These spots help the fragrance diffuse naturally.
3️⃣ Dab, Don’t Rub
Use the rollerball or your finger to gently dab the oil on. Avoid rubbing wrists together - it breaks down the fragrance molecules and shortens wear time.
4️⃣ Layer for Longevity
Pair your oil with a matching lotion, body butter, or spray. Layering locks in the scent and extends its life.
5️⃣ Let It Settle
Give the fragrance a few minutes to warm with your skin before heading out — that’s when the true scent profile shines.
✨ Extra Tip: For all-day scent, try a light re-application midday on one or two pulse points. A little goes a long way.
If you want to try out a fragrance, we recommend purchasing a Half Dram size. This is enough for you to wear several times to be sure that this is the scent for you.
We also include smaller samples in our shipments - these may be new release fragrances, some of our customer's favourites or even some golden oldies! An opportunity for you to try something that you might not otherwise have thought of.
Pro Layering Guide: Unlock Long-Lasting Scents
Level up your fragrance game with our 5-step layering method. By combining oils, butters, lotions and sprays, you can create a scent experience that lasts longer, projects stronger and feels uniquely yours.
1. Prep Your Canvas
Moisturize with scented shea butter — hydrated skin locks in fragrance.
2. Base Layer
Apply fragrance oil to pulse points (neck, wrists, inner elbows).
3. Middle Layer
Seal it in with a matching lotion for extra hold.
4. Top Layer
Finish strong with a concentrated spray to boost projection.
5. Bonus Tip
Blend two oils to create your own signature scent.
💡 Pro Tip: Oils are your anchor — everything else builds on top for depth, longevity, and uniqueness.
Not all fragrance products are created the same - each type gives you a different experience. At FragrantBodyOilz, we make it easy to choose what’s best for your lifestyle.
✨ Oils --> Longest Lasting
Our fragrance oils are undiluted and alcohol-free, making them the purest way to experience scent. Because they’re highly concentrated, they last 8–16 hours depending on your skin type and environment. Oils sit close to the skin, giving you a personal, intimate scent trail. Perfect if you want something long-lasting, subtle, and layerable.
💨 Concentrated Sprays --> Strong & Powerful
Stronger than store-bought perfumes, our concentrated sprays are crafted with a higher fragrance load and without unnecessary fillers. They project more into the air, giving you that “notice me” presence. If you like bold impact and strong sillage (the scent trail you leave behind), sprays are your go-to.
💧 Body Splashes --> Light & Refreshing
Body splashes are water-based and designed as quick refreshers. They’re not meant to last all day, but they’re perfect for after the shower, a midday touch-up, or layering with oils and sprays for a little extra lift. Think of them as your “fragrance reset” throughout the day.
Which One Should You Choose?
- For all-day wear → go with Oils.
- For extra projection → use a Spray.
- For quick refresh → grab a Splash.
- For the ultimate fragrance experience → layer all three!
All About Shea Butters
During warmer months, it's completely normal for shea butter to soften or melt while in transit. This does not affect the quality, fragrance, or moisturizing properties of the product.
If your shea butter arrives soft, simply place it in the refrigerator for 30–60 minutes until it firms up again. Once cooled, it's ready to use as normal.
Shea butter naturally contracts as it cools after being poured. Depending on how it cools, this can sometimes leave a small hole or depression in the center of the jar.
This is a completely normal characteristic of shea butter and does not mean any product is missing. All of our shea butters are filled by volume, so you'll still receive the full amount listed on the label.
Shea butter can sometimes develop a slightly grainy texture if it melts during shipping and then cools slowly at room temperature. This is a natural characteristic of shea butter and does not affect its quality or moisturizing benefits.
If you prefer a smoother consistency, gently warm the shea butter in the microwave using short, low-power intervals until just melted. Then place it in the refrigerator or freezer until it cools quickly. Rapid cooling helps restore a smoother texture.
Our shea butters are infused with fragrance oils, and the color of those oils can vary from one fragrance to another. As a result, each shea butter may have a different color tint to it.
These color variations are completely normal and do not affect the quality or performance of the product.
